Narooma Arts Centre (NAC) Where are we up to? Well it has been a big couple of months in progressing the NAC. We were delighted to be informed by Eurobodalla Shire Council that our redesigned plans received Development consent on the 26th August. Thanks go to our local council for giving this project the green light. In the last week of September the final component of our funding was finalised. Our gratitude goes to our local representatives the Member for Eden Monaro Hon Kristy McBain, and the Member for Bega Dr Michael Holland, for their active and ongoing support . The Committee is now working with Takt Studio for Architecture and project managers NSW Public Works, to review our 75% design phase. Our attention is now focused on the project going to tender before the end of the year. Image: Model of the NAC, front view. Image credit: Takt Studio fo Architecture

This exhibition features turned wood by Tony Jaggers and new prints, drawings and paintings by Perpetua McInnes. This is the first time these two local artists have shown together. Jaggers’ objects highlight the natural grain and structure of the wood, resulting in an array of functional and sculptural objects. McInnes’ still lives and portraits are an observation of her daily life. Details go here.

River of Art Prize 2024 River of Art Prize 2024 is a wrap. Congratulations to the shortlisted artists and the winners listed below. Over one hundred people gathered at the Narooma Gallery on Friday 27 September for the judges’ decision. Chair of River of Art, Leanne Joyce said, “We are really pleased with the quality of entries this year, as well as the quantity - it’s a great way to mark our 20th year. Entries this year included a mix of paintings, photographs, pastels, watercolours, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, lithographics/prints, glass, jewellery and textiles. Entrants were from around Australia, but predominantly from the Eurobodalla, the home of the River of Art. Narooma School of Arts was proud to partner with the River of Art and provide the Narooma Gallery as the venue for this year’s prize. We are looking forward to being able to present the prize in the new NAC gallery once it is completed.
