NOTICE OF THE NSoA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & MEMBERSHIP FEES DUE

The AGM of Narooma School of Arts and Soldiers War Memorial Hall Inc 

Tuesday 11 March 2025 at 6pm at the NSoA Studios

Along with the usual business for the AGM it will include a motion to make a small change to the Constitution to bring it in line with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and Australian Taxation Office requirements.

NAROOMA GALLERY

Last Narooma School of Arts group show at the Narooma Gallery

We held our last group show, Transiting, organised by the Narooma School of Arts at the N```arooma Gallery from 20 February to 2 March. A well received exhibition with longer term members alongside new members presenting works in a diverse array of mediums. Thanks to all those who participated and helped to install and sit the gallery. It was a seamless process and looked great at the opening event.

The gallery is still available all through March and into April, so if you are interested in having an exhibition submit your form NOW.

ARTS TALK

Arts Talk returned in February with our first talk ‘Hyper-real Sculptors’ discussing the work of Patricia Piccinini and Ron Mueck. The work is fascinating and confronting and also incredibly technical to produce. Thanks to Jenni Bourke for leading this discussion.

  Speakers will be the creative duo of Narooma Public School’s Music Teacher Michelle Garcia and Aboriginal Education Officer Lynne Thomas.

  Michelle and Lynne won last year’s Fergus Thomson Heritage Award for their song ‘Country Comes First’. The song and film clip were born from Narooma Public School’s collaborative programme, Music and Creative Culture, which integrates local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, languages, and music. They will also tell us about their next project under the Music and Creative Culture programme. Everyone is invited.

ARTS IN THE SHIRE

Sculpture Bermagui 8 - 16 March 2025

Sculpture Bermagui opens this coming Saturday 8 March 2025. The ‘Bermagui Major Prize’ is valued at $25,000 with the total value of all prizes at $50,000. Make sure you don’t miss this Far South Coast’s signature sculpture prize and celebrate the exciting field of sculpture in this unique location. This year’s prize judge is renowned artist David Jensz.

Bodalla Gallery

Last week to see a beautiful exhibition at Bodalla Gallery featuring new works by Julia Mia Holmes. A series of loose, energetic observational monotype drawings of the local birdlife and new atmospheric pastel work by Miranda Keeling.

Spiral Gallery

Currently showing at the Spiral Gallery Collective is a solo exhibition by Mandy Jackson. Jackson presents an exhibition of paintings, mixed media and drawings of a range of animals. 

Spiral Gallery Bega is a not for profit collective of artists and makers who run and manage the gallery and have a full program in the gallery. See the program here. 

The Kinema

The Kinema is Narooma’s much loved independent cinema. They have a fantastic program of new releases, art house and independent films, along with live performances and events. Support the Kinema this anutumn and take your family and friends to see a movie in the heritage listed hall.
