Narooma Arts Centre (NAC)

Where are we up to?

The Narooma Arts Centre Development Application is now on exhibition on the Eurobodalla Shire Council web portal. You can view it HERE. It will now be open for community comment prior to final assessment by Council.

The Narooma Arts Centre (NAC) is a unique community initiative to build a new centre on the freehold land owned by the Narooma Community. What does it take to build a building? Dedication, attention, perseverance, goodwill, holding the line, and commitment by successive NSoA Management Committees. Now that the plans for a new design of the NAC are before Council, this Management Committee couldn’t be more excited.

The project is being managed by the Narooma School of Arts Management Committee, a volunteer committee made up of people from our community, people you know. Whether they serve for one year or more, each person has participated in the herculean task to realise the community’s vision that began over 15 years ago. The past 4 years have been a series of highs and lows on this journey. We were often stymied by set backs beyond our control. We are grateful that most groups that met weekly at the studios found alternative locations to continue their activities, as we appreciate that finding other locations and settling into new routines takes time and effort.

There is a long way to go, but the conviction that this project will positively contribute to Narooma is what drives us to achieve this significant goal.

Next Step:

  • Once we have Development Consent, Public Works, the project managers, will go to tender for the NAC’s construction.
