NOTICE OF THE NSoA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & MEMBERSHIP FEES DUE

The AGM of Narooma School of Arts and Soldiers War Memorial Hall Inc

MONDAY 30 MARCH  5.30PM at the Narooma Surf Club

The President’s Report on behalf of the association and audited financial reports will be presented. The Management Committee for 2026 will be elected.

This is an exciting year for us. It is the 100th anniversary of the offical opening of the Memorial Hall (operating as the Kinema), 130 year anniversary of the School of Arts in Narooma, and we will be opening the new Narooma Arts Centre. What amazing milestones. We are so excited that we will have a new building to host our association and be a home to the arts here in Narooma.

We are looking for members to join the Management Committee. We are a dynamic team working on the building project as well as managing the organisation. We welcome you to contribute your skills and participate in keeping the arts a vital part of the Narooma community. If you would like to discuss this further email the Secretary, Laurelle Pacey.

From 1 January 2026 the NSoA annual membership fees are due. Only financial members are eligible to vote at the AGM and to nominate for a position on the Management Committee.

STAFF FOR THE NAC

In the lead up to the NAC opening, we have employed staff to help us organise the many elements involved in opening the centre, including programs for the gallery and studios, operational procedures, and finalising the furniture and fittings.

We would like to thank Liz McCrystal for taking us through the important early steps, creating the artist and studio registers, as well as our exhibition application forms and guidelines. Most importantly, we thank Liz for her 1 in 100 concept and acknowledge her creative and thoughtful process in conceptualising this.

We now welcome Waratah Lahy as our new Gallery and Studio Engagement Officer. She will be up and running from Wednesday 18 February. You can contact Waratah via email: admin.nac@nsoa.com.au

In addition, we are seeking to hire a Technical Officer. If you would love to be involved in the Narooma Arts Centre, have experience in the arts, are organised, know a thing or two about supporting studios and galleries, and can create procedures, then this might be the fit for you. See the full details via our web page here.

NAROOMA ARTS CENTRE BUILD

Work on the construction of the Narooma Arts Centre resumed on 19 January 2026 and already so much has happened since then. Steel framing and plywood ceiling is in for the Studio spaces (first image below) and the roofing for the gallery is completed with more work on the entry walkway being undertaken. Images supplied by Russell Burke (NSoA NAC Project Sub Committee member).

NOTICES

  • The next meeting of the Narooma Historical Society is on Sunday 22 February 2026 at 2pm in the Noble Room St Paul’s Anglican Church. Please contact Laurelle Pacey for more details.

The Kinema

The Kinema is Narooma’s very own independent cinema. This summer, support the Kinema and take your family and friends to see a movie in our heritage hall. The Kinema Foreign Film Festival is screening all February - one week per film - don’t miss these great offerings from Norway, Korea, France and Brazil.
