Did you notice? We are trialing a new logo at the top of the newsletter. This is to represent both the Narooma School of Arts and the Narooma Arts Centre, in preparation for the new centre opening.

If you have been going through Narooma you may have noticed how well the build is coming along, with the concrete slabs poured and the steel framing for the gallery and cafe completed. All the block work and concrete columns to support the studios at the rear of the centre have been finished.

The Management Committee is progressing other elements to make this a functioning centre. We are in the process of compiling the list and quotes for new furniture, fixtures and equipment, which is quite a task when you consider all the items that are required to fully furnish a new building.

If you haven’t visited our website lately, take a stroll through it now and see some of the changes happening there. Over the coming months our NSoA website will be evolving to feature information about the Narooma Arts Centre.

NAC GALLERY AND STUDIO ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

The NSoA Management Committee is delighted that Liz McCrystal has joined our team to develop the inaugural programme for the new Narooma Arts Centre (NAC).

We’re delighted to have Liz join us in the position of Galleries and Studios Engagement Coordinator. She fits the bill perfectly. Her passion for the arts and the community, and her experience of working in so many facets of the arts, means she will create a dynamic program with a point of difference for the NAC. 

Liz is thrilled to be involved. “It’s so wonderful to be part of laying the foundations of a new arts and cultural institution,” she said.

“I feel as though my last 10 years working in arts administration and programming, and more recently in the therapeutic applications of the arts, have been great preparation for this role in programming the NAC for the next 12 - 24 months.”

NAROOMA KINEMA SEATING SURVEY

On behalf of the community, the Narooma School of Arts is undertaking a survey about the seating at the Narooma Memorial Hall/Kinema. It will only take five minutes and will provide us with feedback so we can continue to understand the needs of our community and our visitors.
