About the workshop: Michelle Slezak, an artist with over 20 yrs experience, will lead participants through this 5 hour workshop to explore the art of felting and unleash your love for wool, felt and colour. Felting is a versatile and tactile craft that involves interlocking wool fibres together to create a solid fabric or three-dimensional objects. Michelle will guide you step by step in making your own felt necklace and a small bag for your phone, water bottle or glasses. We will provide colourful wool fleece for you to choose from and decide your own colour palette.
You can expect to discover the basics of felting in this hands on workshop in a relaxing space within a small group. Participants will be taking home their new felt necklaces and a small felt bag.
This workshop is suitable for all people who love colour and natural fibres and want the opportunity to try their hand at felting, or if you have felted before and want an opportunity to refine your skills. Dive into the world of felt and all its possibilities in this one day workshop.
There is a limit of 8 places, don’t let this opportunity pass you by. See you there.
About the artist: Michelle is based in Moruya NSW. Her art practice is diverse and spans a variety of media. Textile Art has been a large part of her expression, with felt making she has explored and played with for more than 20 years. Attracted to its simplicity and versatile nature, and using Australian fine Merino wool Michelle has created one of a kind and limited edition wearables, artworks and homewares reflecting her playfulness and unique style. Reusing textile waste and remnants to create artworks are also a passion for Michelle as she focuses on reusing what would go to landfill, and giving it a new life.
In addition to textiles Michelle’s background as a signwriter has given her a discipline for straight lines and lettering. These now have a place in her current work, expressing love as a conscious reminder for each of us to recognise, celebrate and share.
