Be/longing

The Narooma School of Arts (NSoA) is proud to announce Be/Longing, the inaugural exhibitions for the new Narooma Arts Centre (NAC).

To celebrate the opening of the NAC, we invited artists to submit a work in any medium for consideration in our inaugural exhibition.

Be/Longing invites artists to explore the physical and emotional landscapes of belonging: what it means to feel connected to community, to Country, to place, or to oneself. From the wild coastal edges of our unique environment to the quiet interiors of the self, the exhibition encourages diverse interpretations of what it means to belong.

Submissions were assessed by a panel of experienced arts professionals: Ms Meghan Kennedy, (Curatorial Project Officer, Bundanon); Ms Helen Maxwell (OAM, freelance curator, art valuer and consultant); and Dr Waratah Lahy, (Engagement Coordinator, Narooma Arts Centre). Works were evaluated on artistic merit and response to the theme of belonging. The panel was moved by the diversity and depth of interpretations submitted.

Sixty-eight artists and their submitted work have been selected. We are excitedly awaiting the opening of this inaugural exhibition as the final stages of the build are completed and opening dates to be announced.
