Big windows. Beautiful light. Stunning views to Gulaga. Narooma Arts Centre has some of the finest creative spaces in the Eurobodalla, and we'd love you to experience them for yourself. 

Our flexible studios are perfect for a range of activities: yoga classes, workshops, community meetings, functions, performances, and creative practice of all kinds. On-site equipment includes printing presses, easels, kilns, pottery wheels, sewing machines, and more.

Terms & Conditions

Summary

  • Hirers who enter into an agreement with the Narooma School of Art (NSoA) are bound by these Terms & Conditions.

  • The NSoA has total discretion to accept or decline any application. The Hirer will not provide false or misleading information, or omit to provide information that will result in the application being false or misleading. Failure to meet any of the Conditions of Hire, either before or during a booking, will result in immediate cancellation of a booking.

  • The Hirer should not use the building for any purpose other than that specified within the ‘Agreement’. It is the responsibility of the Hirer to see that their guests adhere to these conditions.

  • Bookings and payments are through our online booking system by clicking on the ‘Book Now!’ links on this page.

  • Bookings can commence at 8am and must be completed by 10pm.

  • Hirers conducting a class or workshop that involves art making, the use of NAC equipment, theatre or physical activity instruction are required to have Public Liability insurance to the value of $20 million.

  • Where functions are attended by persons under the age of 18 years, the Hirer will be the person responsible for actively supervising the activity/function/event.

  • The hiring may not be assigned or transferred to any other person, persons or organisation without prior written consent from the NSoA.

  • Hirers must ensure that Conditions of Hire and any specific arrangements or instructions are complied with at all times.

  • No animals except “service dogs” may be admitted to the venue except with prior arrangement.


Payment

  • Payment is required at the time of booking via AllBooked, our room reservation provider.

  • Arrangements can be made to be invoiced with payment via direct debit no later than 7 days before the booking date - email us at admin.nac@nsoa.com.au if this is your preferred option.

  • Cancellations received more than 48 hrs prior to the booking are eligible for refund less the $5 administration fee.

  • Cancellations made 48 hrs or less before the booking will not be refunded.

  • If the room is not reset to a clean and tidy state , a fee of $150 will be charged to your credit card.

Insurance

  • It is the responsibility of all TIER 3 and 4 Hirers conducting a class or workshop that involves art making, the use of NAC equipment, theatre or physical activity instruction or function and events, to have Public Liability insurance to the value of $20 million.

  • A copy of your Certificate of Currency must be emailed to admin.nac@nsoa.com.au before the hire commences.

  • The hirer shall indemnify and keep indemnified the NSoA against all losses, expenses, liabilities, claims and damages incurred as a result of or arising out of the hiring of the premises whether caused by any act or omission of the hirer or its invitees.


Induction Tiers
A representative of the NAC will be in touch with hirers to provide induction information which will vary depending on how you intend to use the Creative Studios.

Tier 1 – Basic Use
Hirers undertaking low-risk, low-impact and non-industrial arts activities. Activities must not involve wet processes, dust, fumes, heavy equipment, or require substantial cleaning requirements.
Examples include committee meetings, writing groups, planning sessions, artist talks, book clubs, rehearsals, lectures and community gatherings.

Tier 2 – Studio & Creative Use
Suitable for low-to-moderate impact creative activities undertaken with user-supplied materials and equipment. Does not include access to NAC specialist equipment.
Examples include painting, drawing, writing, textile work, small group creative workshops, music groups, digital arts, photography editing, theatre and music rehearsals and independent studio practice using personal materials and equipment.

Tier 3 – Specialist Creative Practice
Suitable for creative activities involving NAC-owned equipment, machinery, technical resources, and may require additional safety procedures or approvals.
Examples include ceramics, printmaking, multimedia production, fabrication, installation preparation, workshop-based practice and activities requiring specialist equipment or shared materials.

Tier 4 – Function & Event Classification
Suitable for one-off functions involving catering, amplified sound, extended operating hours or event infrastructure requirements.
Examples include weddings, celebrations, community events, launches, fundraising events and corporate functions.


Damages

Making a booking to hire the NAC facility via the NSoA's booking system is an agreement to the following damages clause:

  • The NSoA will inspect for any damage to the facility, its furniture, fixtures, equipment and surrounding grounds that may have occurred during the Period of Hire.

  • If damage is caused by the Hirer, their guests, contractors, or any attendees a fee of $600 will be charged to the Hirer’s credit card. If the extent of the damage is deemed to be significantly more, the NSoA's assessment of the damage and costs to the NAC will be final and an invoice issued to the Hirer for remuneration. The NSoA reserves the right to engage its own contractors to complete the repairs to pre-hire condition. 


Entry Hours & Access

  • Bookings for the Centre are Monday through to Sunday. The Centre may be closed from time to time at the sole discretion of the NSoA.

  • Bookings can commence at 8 am and must be completed and the building vacated by 10 pm. Should the venue not be vacated within 30 minutes of the agreed conclusion time extra charges may apply.

  • The hirer is responsible for all centre entry cards that are issued. Cards can be deposited into the locked Returns Box, or returned to reception at the end of the booking.

  • A fee of $50.00 will be charged for unreturned cards.


Usage

  • All facilities, furniture and equipment are to be left clean and tidy, with all rubbish removed. Failure to do so may result in an additional charge of $150

  • The NSoA will not accept responsibility for any damage or loss of property or equipment left on the premises prior, during or after the event.

  • The NSoA reserves the right to decline a booking if it breaches the values of the NSoA and is deemed inappropriate, offensive and contravenes Australia’s anti-discrimination laws.

  • The Hirer agrees not to exceed the occupancy limit in the hired space at any ti.

  • The hirer is responsible for turning on and off any electrical items required.

  • Equipment and Decoration: Smoke machines, sparklers or any other smoke producing item may not be used in the building under any circumstances.

  • All helium balloons must be removed from the building before departure as their movement in the building may cause security alarms to be activated. A fee of up to but not exceeding $600 may be charged if the security alarms are activated for this reason.

  • No nails, staples, paint, screws or glues are to be used for installing decoration. All decorations are to be removed completely at the end of the hire period.

  • A $600 call out fee will be charged for attendance after hours by a NSoA Representative or trades person.


Food and Beverage

  • Tea Room facility is available to all hirers unless it has been booked for a period of exclusive use. No food or drink is to be left in the Tea Room under any circumstances. All utensils must be washed and dried and returned to their storage place after use.

  • Food or beverage may be brought into the venue for your function at your risk. The preparation of food must be confined to the Tea Room. If the Tea Room is required to be used exclusively during your event it must be booked and paid for. The Tea Room is to be cleaned including washing, drying and putting away equipment used, and fridges emptied of items brought into the venue.

  • The hirer shall not sell liquor, beverage, food or refreshments on the Premises without permission.

  • The serving of alcohol may be approved to be consumed on the premise for an event, however the hirer is responsible for the safe consumption of alcohol, and removal of all unopened alcohol and any waste after the event.

  • If alcohol is to be served it is the hirer’s responsibility to meet all regulations and if applicable an appropriate liquor license must be obtained by the hirer from Liquor and Gaming NSW and a copy provided to the NAC.


Safety

  • Hirers will be provided with the relevant Induction information before commencement of hire.

  • Under no circumstances shall there be any interference with the firefighting or other emergency equipment in the NAC except in the case of fire or emergency.

  • In the instance where the Fire Brigade attends due to a False Alarm deemed to be fault of the Hirer, the Hirer shall pay the attendance fee.

  • Ensure doors, fire doors, exits, and passageways are kept clear and usable to ensure public safety. Do not block emergency exits.

  • Where activities are attended by persons under the age of 18 years, the Hirer will be the person responsible for actively supervising the activity/function/event. A Working With Children Check will be required.

  • The hirer is responsible for the actions of any person, whether contracted or invited, who cause damage or loss sustained by the NSoA to the NAC, Cottage or Kiln Shed fixtures and fittings during their room hire.

  • NSW government smoking laws apply. Smoking is not permitted inside the building. Smoking is permitted in the allocated outside smoking area adjacent to the cottage. The hirer is asked to ensure the removal of all cigarette butts.
